Get to Carlsbad

At Carlsbad Board of Realtors, we know and love the City of Carlsbad, NM.

The picturesque community has been a part of the state’s southeastern landscape since 1888, when it was established as the Town of Eddy - named in honor of Charles B. Eddy, a prominent force behind the city’s founding. With the enhancement of area mineral springs and their beneficial medicinal uses, the settlement’s moniker was ultimately changed to Carlsbad, after the famed European spa, “Karlsbad.”

Carlsbad was designated as a city in 1918. The monumental discoveries of the region’s caverns and the establishment of the Carlsbad Caverns National Park in 1930 led to worldwide appreciation of the community.

Today, Carlsbad is a prosperous city of almost 30,000 residents with numerous, diverse businesses. Young families, entrepreneurs and retirees all find Carlsbad to be a home that is second-to-none, taking pleasure in its small-town charm and friendliness.

The area’s relaxed lifestyle is supported by serene beauty, approximately 350 days of sunshine each year and access to a variety of quality conveniences.

So, if you are in search of a new residence, looking to establish a new business venture or coming to take advantage of the area’s great natural attractions for the weekend, the city of Carlsbad and its residents invite you to discover the treasures that make this community a real gem in New Mexico.
